Not been a regular watcher since moving back to the area so I wonder if anyone could give a list of prospective winter visitors to the county and good viewing spots.

There's certainly plenty arriving at present and no doubt more yet to come.

Likely the best place to see what's current n the County is to keep and eye on and post in this thread Durham Birding (http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?p=720053#post720053) - it's one of the most active threads on Bird Forum.

The coast is about the best place at present anything can turn up anywhere - I came across a Shore lark at Crimdon Dene on the beach yeserday along with a Snow Bunting and a Twite. Plenty of Little Auk heading along the coast over the last few days -several at Hartlepool along with two Red-throated Diver and Purple Sandpiper giving very close views.

At Hurworth Burn there was a flock of Fieldfare 100+ on the berry bushes beside the walkway with a few Redwing mixed in as well.
