Thought I'd make the most of the internet to try and meet some fellow birders in my area!

I am a 20 year old student from the North East of England who wants to get back into 'physical' birding!

I have been a member of the RSPB since the age of 6! (Many years spent in the YOC) and have a passion for birds...I love them!

So, if anyone would like a chat sometime feel free to drop me a message!

Many thanks

Ben

Hello Ben and welcome to Bird Forum from a fellow Geordie birder.

There are quite a few of us on here and I'm sure they'll soon be along to welcome you.
Why not become a membr of the Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club, if you are not already a member? The webite is a few months out of date but one of it's commitee members is a regular visitor to BF. Send Martin Kitching a PM and he'll send you any info, including details of club meetings which are held in Newcastle.

Or why not join us on a BF Member's Meet in a months' time?

We hold them a few times every year in various locations and they're great fun! Last one I was on was in July when we organised a Meet to see Nightjars. And it's good to put faces to names too.

Hi Ben

Welcome to BirdForum.

As well as Gill's good suggestions above, the Newcastle RSPB Local Group run field trips every month throughout the year.

Thanks for all the welcome messages, you lot! Great stuff!

Thanks especially to Gill Osborne and level seven for their suggestions - I was actually thinking of going on one of the RSPB trips which is happening quite soon...I think I may go along now!

Thanks, again!

Welcome to BF, Ben. I've PM'd you some details about NTBC. I'm not a committee member anymore (although I'm very closely related to one, and my Bird Race team consists of myself and three current committee members), just an NTBC member who believes in promoting the many benefits that can be gained by joining the club.

best wishes
martin

Hi Ben

Welcome to Birdforum.
I don't want to flood you with info on local groups and I am aware that Graham is helping you with regard to the RSPB Newcastle Local Group. You would be made very welcome. Graham is far to modest to say so, but we have a very comprhensive programme of fieldtrips both local and further afield already planned for 2007/08. The programme will be available in February. As I think you know fileldtips are also running in Dec Jan Feb and March Hope to see you there sometime.

Cheers

Hi Ben,

Welcome to Birdforum.

As you can see quite a few of us from this part of the World. Keep an eye out for the "Bashs" get togethers, we come from all walks of life and all levels of birding so don't worry.

Thanks again for all your comments and help.

I doubt that I'll be able to make the trip on the 2nd December (with the Newcastle RSPB Group) as it's fully booked.

Boo Hoo!

I will surely make sure that I have space in my diary for other upcoming events.

It is at the moment, but spaces often become available as one or two people usually cancel. Please PM me if you want to be kept informed about this.
