Hey, I was looking through some posts and saw a pretty cool sonogram you made. Do you use Raven Lite?

If you give me the post number I can tell you what software I used in the post.

Most of the things that influence the quality of a sonogram are set when you make the recording. The usual things - get close to your subject, use directional mics aimed at the subject, minimise background noise. I don't see a vast difference between sonogram applications, once you control the variables of dynamic range between black and white, and normalise your sound file to a peak level of about 80-90%

I'll see if I can find it again in one of these threads...

I was impressed with the colors and the layout of it. It had a black background and the notes were an orangish-red color (kind of like fire).

Ah, found it.

It's the one right below g8ina's post (he has a purple/red/orange one-- that's pretty cool too!)

Yours is black/red/orange.

Can I do that with Ravenlite? Sorry I'm so computer illiterate.

Yeah, raven will do that for you.

Switch to color scheme Hot (menu View -> color scheme -> Hot

Raven 1 Lite's version of that great tit recording is attached. Although it looks more funky that way, I find patterns easier to see in the B/W version. The original was done using Adobe Audition 1.5 but I would say Raven gives a more accurate rendition.

I had to fiddle with the sharpness control in Raven, which seems to exchange frequency resolution for temporal resolution, to match Audition, which seemed biased to frequency resolution.
