Hi All
Well,my next port of call was the following day at a mature Avocado orchard, having put up the nets after I had finished at the Olive grove the day before.
The orchard backs on to the rio Hozgarganta which usually holds water in even the driest of years,so influences the site a little.
Here I have 2 sets of nets ,each 2 x 18metre in tandem inside the orchard and a 3 x 18 metre set of nets in tandem between the orchard and the rio.
Entry into this site is difficult ,all the gear has to be humped a good 200 metres to set up and pack in afterwards, but it is all worth it.
All nets were opened by 07.00 setting the tape lure for Red Necked Nightjar and Scops Owl again till it was light then changing to Iberian Chiffchaff ( 5 ringed in previous 2 visits).
Dead calm this morning ,clear skies and by 11.00 hrs I was closing all the nets as too hot, already 30+ degrees.
However in that time had ringed 5 juv.,an adult female and an adult moulting female Blackcap,a juvenile female Cettis Warbler,4 adult moulting and 4 juv.Chaffinch,6 juv.and 1 adult male moulting Blackbird,1 adult and 1 moulting adult Robin,1 adult moulting male Great Tit.1 first winter Willow Warbler (Passage Migrant).1 juv. Iberian Chiffchaff (tape lured),1 juv.Sardinian Warbler and 3 juv.Serin.
Also retrapped 1 juv.Robin,1 juv.Blackbird and a juv.Short Toed Treecreeper.
That made a total of 32 new birds and 3 retraps.
A few Pix will follow if good enough in my Gallery
