Can you use any of the Lumix range with digiscoping? I like the sound of image stabilised!! I have Swaro 80hd DCA adapter. Can you use Lumix for digiscoping?

Panasonic Lumix FX01: Good results with this 6 million pixel camera,Leica lens, large screen and best of all can be held against eyepiece due to its Optical stabiliser.

I you find a camera that has a lens thread to fit the DCA then you don't have to worry about the Image Stabisling, which probably doesn't work on a scope anyway ( the camera doesn't understand the high magnification that it's trying to stabilise ). Have a look at the Nikon P Series , Olympus 350 or a Fuji E900 if you can still find one. Test them out first though as I haven't had personal experience with them but I'm seeing good results posted.
If you are happy hand holding to a simple tube adapter (works best on an angled scope) then the Fuji F31 is very fast and good at high iso so also no need to worry about Image Stabilising. Neil.

Hi,

I've owned a Panasonic Lumix DMC FX9 for over a year now and can't recommend it highly enough. I take all my digiscoped photos through a Zeiss 85 without the use of an adapter. The OIS obviously facilitates this option and to be honest, I've seen some of my mates seriously hampered trying to get adapters and shutter release cable all in place only to miss a nice shot...particularly with rarities.

If you're looking for a simple, effective digiscoping camera without using an adapter, I suggest you try one of these. They have been surpassed now so I'm sure one can be found relatively cheaply. I've attached a few photos to give you an idea of what hand-held OIS aided digiscoping can achieve.

All images have been cropped and minimal sharpening applied.

Best of luck!!!

M....your images are wonderful.....I didn't know that a digiscoper can hand-hold the Lumix. I have just received an APO Televid 77....next wek the lens arrives and the new 7.2 megapixel Lumix.....your post has inspired me
