Belonging to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum I received a email from them stating that a cross between a Broad bill and a Violette Crowned Hummingbird was spotted and verified.. Last time it was seen was in Mexico in the 1890's when it was thought to be a new species. It was later proved to be a hybrid. I have dozens of shot and will make the 120 mile round trip this Saturday afternoon for more

Hey Fleas,

Welcome to Birdforum. That it a stunning picture...and timely too. Here is a link to a photo request posted just today on the Arizona-New Mexico listserv regarding hybrid hummingbirds. At the top of the request list was the BTA Broad-billed X Violet-crowned Hummingbird. You may be able to help out.
