I use a Nikon CP4500 and it's fine. Nikon make various adapters that allow the camera to be fitted directly to the lens. With the DS eyepieces you need the F/S CP9XX and the FSA3, which you can get for a combined cost of around £50. There are doubtless other combinations which work well too.

The Fuji F30 with SRB~Griturn adapter should be ideal. The F30 should be especially good with a smaller scope like the ED50 as it uniquely allows high quality shots to be taken at high ISO speeds (certainly 800ASA and very useable at 1600, even 3200ASA at a pinch); this will compensate for the lower light levels passing through the 50mm objective.

Like you I have purchased an ED50 ,but with the 40xWF Eye-piece.
Basically I am asking the same question.Scampo mentions the SGB~Grittur bracket-is that the cradle or have they now brought out a new one?

It's the swing-type adapter. I'd have guessed it is ideal with that scope using, I'd say, a Fuji F30 as this allows photos to be taken at high ASA speeds which would help to cancel the effects of lower light transmission caused by the smaller objective diameter of the Nikon.

I think i've read just about everything on the Fuji30 in the last hour and it seems very promising.
I have the SGB cradle, which I use with my Coolpix 950 (Retirement looms for this old friend) .
The 'swing out' bracket looks a lot simpler but maybe a bit less stable-any views on this ?
As a retired Photographer of advancing years I am looking to reduce both the amount of equipment and the weight !!

thanks steve for that advice - the camera looks good ....but what's a SRB-Griturn adapter - apologies for the ignorance!

There've been many threads on this forum about this - run a quick search here and in Google. It's a well-priced and well-made device to attach the camera to the scope.
