Hey, I want to keep all of my recordings, but not on my computer since the file size is so big because of the .wav format.

Do you guys suggest getting somes DVD RW's and storing them on there? Or... should I convert the files into a smaller format? I am worried that if I convert the files to a smaller format I might lose quality by converting back to .wav should I ever use them again.

Thanks for any ideas.

P.S. I'm using Hi-MD 1 GB discs to make the recordings... but those are nearly 6 bucks a piece. I would prefer to re-use them after transferring the files off.

External USB hard drives would be the best option, I use them (500 Gig drives are about £125 in the UK) for storing my images, backing files up on two separate drives in case of failure

Oh, lol... just noticed that is in Europe...

I'll see if I can figure out how much that = in US dollars.

I use an external 250 GB USB drive to store my recordings and video files. However, if you don't make too many recordings you could store them on CD or DVD as well. Either way, it's always good to have as many backups as you can.

As to price... I don't think anyone ever said it would be cheap... memory, drives, recorders, recording media, microphone... it all adds up pretty quickly.
