I wish to report success mating a Canon Digital Ixus V3 to a Leica Televid Apo 77 / 20-60 zoom.

The Leica side was easy - an Eagleeye Digimount L1 adapter.

For the Ixus, I used an SRB DC mount from www.srbfilm.co.uk. This is a adjustable gadget which attaches to the tripod socket in any camera, and holds a 37mm threaded ring in front of the lens. The ring screws straight in to the L1 - but this caused the only problem, because once the L1 was attached, I did not have quite enough clearance to centre the ring over the camera lens. Fortunately a washer about 1mm thick placed over the tripod attachement screw gave the necessary clearance.

Attached (I hope) is an image showing the SRB DC mount mated to the L1. Note the extra washer on the tripod attachment.

Here is an image of the adapter on the Ixus. It is quite a sturdy setup but occasionally the angle of the adapter does need to be altered if it gets knocked out of alignment - which can happen even with the Allen screws fully tightened. Easy to do.

You can see why the tripod ring washer was necessary in this view. The large L1 is bang up against the joint of the adjustable mount.

Once attached to the scope, it seems to work best with the eyepiece cup extended. Vignetting is obvious when the camera zoom is set to x1, but improves markedly when used at x2 (maximum optical zoom on this Ixus model). I've barely used it as yet, and have no previous experience of digiscoping, but here is one of the first early morning shots with this rig. It is only slightly cropped.

Redshift,

I hope my first attempts come out as good as yours have. At last Nikon have contacted me and the missing part for my digiscope adaptor should be coming any day now. No doubt the weather will turn dark and gloomy and totally unsuitable to get some practice in at this new skill when my missing part arrives.
