Not present at Martin Down at least up to the 19th May this year according to locals I met there on that day.

They breed at the Great Bustard area, the area can be visited by appointment and there is a charge but they are there.

There are a number of Stone Curlews in the Stonehenge area. I first came on to them by accident as i was looking for a Yellow Hammer!

I then visited a while later and saw them again. Another HOS lister has also seen them in the same location. I was within 15m of them and had superb views but needed to be very very still as they got spooked very easily.

Both times i was on a public RoW and stayed on the RoW, not needing to move of it to get my views.

For you Teamsaint as you do not drive catch the train to Salisbury, then catch the bus to Stonehenge, then you have to walk.

Hi there,

I'm trying to find out which Counties still use the Watsonian Vice County system to record birds in and which go by whatever the political boundary may change to (and why).

The Watsonian Vice County system was set to accurately record and compare historical and modern data and it seems that there can be/is confusion when some counties no longer use this system whilst others do. Does anyone in your county have a view on this ? Discussion here if anyone has a comment:
