Hi, all. I've been having a blast in the past months following the purchase of my HiMD recorder. I know someday I'll want to upgrade to a more expensive microphone, namely the model in the title, since it doesn't require 48v of phantom power(someone correct me if I got the model name wrong--I'm a bit sleepy at the moment). :P

I was wondering if anyone here has any sound samples of the Sennheiser used with a HiMD recorder(or perhaps a different Sennheiser model). I'd like to have a reference to compare to my Audio-Technica ATR55. |=)|

The ME66 is part of the K6 system (http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/icm_eng.nsf/resources/K6_overview.jpg/$File/K6_overview.jpg), you'll need a powering module too. The one you need is the K6 and not the K6P. The K6 takes a battery, the K6P can't. But if you ever do go to 48V powering, the K6 can do that too.

HouseFinch,

I've used a HiMD with ME67/K6 since 2005, you can check out some recordings at xeno-canto:

http://www.xeno-canto.org/browse.php?query=rec%3Adavis

they aren't necessarily my cleanest recordings, posted instead on the basis of the species involved... look at any recordings post-2004.

cheers
Brad

Steelflight (http://www.birdforum.net/search.php?searchid=2448808) uses an ME66 with a HiMD

Yeah, let me see if I can figure out how to upload some recordings. You'll have to excuse me for being kind of dumb when it comes to computers! Check back here tonight and hopefully I'll have it figured out.

Is there a way to upload a recording to this message, or do I have to make a website and upload it into a webshell? I notice the only sound format here is .wmv.

Ok, I used Audacity to cut/paste some sections of different recordings I have. Each of the files is about 1 MB in file size. What's your email? Maybe I can just attach them to an email and send them to you.

I sometimes use a ME67 with K6 into a mini disc recorder and I think I can safely say it will be much better than an ATR55 ( I have a copy/knock off one).

If I have time will try to post an example.

Please excuse my computer ignorance...

But how do you guys 'post' your sounds? You can't attach .wav files to messages here (probably because they are too big?). So do I need to go make an angelfire website or something and just upload them into a webshell?

I use Ripway.com to host my MP3 sound clips. It's mainly a site for hosting images, but they let you use sounds, too. PutFile is another good one. I'd suggest converting sound samples to MP3 before putting them online, making sure you keep backups of the original .wavs first! ;)

Here's an example of an MP3 hosted on Ripway, frogs I just recorded(these guys are LOUD, so turn down your speakers/headphones:D Frogsong (http://h1.ripway.com/Aniu1983/Frogsong.mp3)
