Just came back from 5 days in south Texas. Saw some great birds and raised my 2007 list from 99 to 146, including 6 lifers. The biggest thrill was 10 minutes watching a Sora at 10 feet at Santa Ana, but seeing 9 Ospreys in 15 minutes at Laguna Atascosa was also exciting.

The biggest misses were Green Kingfisher, Greater Roadrunner, Buff-bellied Hummingbird and warblers (except Ovenbird). Oh well, next time.

There are allways good birds to see in the Valley.

Jeff, if you have any interest in getting together in the Houston area, feel free to contact me. I'm always looking for birders to go afield with.

I'll take you up on that some time after my sister-in-law has gone back to the UK.
BTW, are you doing Jim H's birdwalk at Edith Moore on Wednesday?

Jeff

I can never make those since I eat at my desk and work 40 minutes away from ELM. Jim's a friend of mine, however, and the walks are often very productive.
