Pretty sure Brianchafer is right - Great Grey Shrike.

The colouring appears good for a GG Shrike, but this looks like it may be a small bird, judging by the tree it is perched on. Don't know what it is though

Certainly looks like a Shrike, so I'll go for Lesser grey.

Its tail looks to short for GGS/SGS... Its head however does look big and Shrikey...

Wonder if its a Woodchat

hi jane sorry about the boys only.Yeh the photo caught me out as well .i posted it on the durham thread and there was a bit of a stir I can tell you . it was an almost white chaffinch . it had me going. here are the other pics

After seeing the later posts I was questioning my sanity for a while! Certainly an odd bird.
