Having listened to a lot of sound advice from BF members re what digiscoping camera to buy (my last thread was Nikon 4500 - is it any good) I have decided to go with the Fuji F30. I haven't bought it yet but have seen it and know roughly the price I will have to pay.
My question is this: I use a Swarovski 80 HD (old style) with a 20-60 zoom (old style).

1 . If I get the Fuji, will I require any special equipment to connect it to the scope and if so what and how much does it cost.
2. Will this connection make it awkward to use it as a scope as well (ie taking off-putting on etc)
3. Will I still get good results with it just held to the eyepiece.

Look forward to your replies.
Thanks

I'm sure someone will come along and reply, but in the meantime, look under "Andy Bright's Digiscoping Forum" under "Digiscoping Adapters". There is a thread on the first page about an adapter for the Swarovski 80 and I'm sure you can find many more in past posts. Many people ask about adapters and some even rig up their own. You should find a wealth of information but it may take some time browsing through old posts. Hope this helps.

I'm new to digiscoping but researched a year before purchasing a Fuji F30 to match a Pentax FL 80ED with a fixed 21mm eyepiece. For your main question about the adapter there are many to choose from an Swarvorski makes one specifically for their scopes, which from threads reviewed are compatible with multiple point and shoot cameras. I hope that to be true because it was the most expensive option I found.
The adapter I'm using presently is one-tenth the price. a hard rubber pipe coupler common in the hardware store. I plan to stay with this option since I have just purchased a WP-FXF30, which will complete my system. I have not seen reference to a waterproof system for digiscoping but a thread; “The effect of camera type and focal length on digiscoping resolution” has provided me with calculation of expected tolerances giving me confidence in the new purchase. I’ve advanced from a Canon S230 attached to bino’s to my present system and the one piece of equipment that has made to greatest advance in photo quality has been the addition of a mechanical release (defiantly recommended).
I know you will enjoy the F30 as much as I have and will process quality photos. I hope to post more photos in my gallery my present pic’s are to high of a pixel count to post (just have to enjoy them myself and share later).
In conclusion I would recommend using previous threads to research ideas for a home made adapter, which you can adapt to your needs. If your interested in a waterproof version I’m the first to try that I know and will post results in about two weeks. Until then enjoy the great outdoors.
