Ok, so i'll admit it, i collect birds on stamps (maybe i should get out more!), so i thought it might be fun to post some bird stamps and see if you can guess what they are. I've blanked out their names so no cheating! When it's guessed correctly, i'll post another one.
The first stamp is from st Kitts.

That very stamp is on this site, and is listed as a Scaly naped pigeon, Patagoienas Squamosa.

That's right! Although it's listed as a Ramier, columba squamosa. Ok, here's the next one:

Well, it looks like a Euphonia, and it has a yellow rump so Yellow-rumped Euphonia? Or as its from Greanada, how about Grenada Euphonia? Grenadine Euphonia? Don't know off hand if Grenada is Greater Antilles ot Lesser Antilles, so I'd better throw in Greater Antillean Euphonia, Lesser Antillean Euphonia and plain old Antillean Euphonia too! Then again it could be something completely unpredictacbe! Could google, but guessing's more fun!

Hope this stamps a bit more up to date with the taxonomy ;) ;)
{Scaly-naped Pigeon Patagioenas squamosa
Described by: Bonnaterre (1792)
Alternate common name(s): Red-necked Pigeon, Blue Pigeon
Old scientific name(s): Columba squamosa}
also commonly referred to as 'ramier'
They're beautiful stamps btw - lovely idea to collect ones with birds on - are all the St Vincent ones and the others this artistic, or are they special editions?

Most bird stamps are just as lovely, strangely enough it's the stamps from smaller countries that tend to be the most decorative and well designed, in my view anyway!
