A Boeing 757 carrying 221 passengers from Manchester to Lanzarote was forced to make an emergency landing when 2 herons were sucked into the starboard engines.

No one was injured.

Nasty, especially when the site describes 'the burning of the birds' - but it could have been a whole lot nastier.
