If anything can be said for Canon DSLRs its the absolute reliability of their lens mounts, dont believe me? well just try dropping one with a 500mm lens attached and I bet the mount and lens stick firmly together;

Oh my, I never would have believed it if I hadn't seen the photos myself! Our lens mounts must be made of titanium! Can't believe he's sending it in to be repaired, surely they will send it back the same.

Why, why did you show this disaster? Now I am sick ... my poor gear may end like that?

I did that. Dropped a 20D, 1.4 converter, and 500/4. It landed on the corner of the 20D and thus with a lot of twisting leverage on the lens mount.

The 20D was fine.

The 1.4 converter was not worth repairing, Canon said.

And the 500/4 needed a new mechanical fitting. Cost less than $200. Big relief!
