Hi There Ringers
Well,we all get days when things are somewhat quiet,and even I get them down here.
This morning the nets were opened before first light at the casares site in the foothills of Sierra Crestellina,and even then there was an easterly gale blowing.
As it happens the nets up ,were all in sheltered wooded areas but even there ,little was moving.
7 Birds before things were shut down at 11 00,dismal effort!!!
Totals were for new birds
1 BLACKCAP
1 GREENFINCH
1 NIGHTINGALE
2 SARDINIAN WARBLERS
plus 2 retrapped SARDINIAN WARBLERS
The owner of this site and who is my trainee had gone to a lot of effort opening up new ringing lanes in these wooded areas so I feel sure they have great potential for later on in the year and indeed next spring.
I am ringing here again on Sunday morning so fingers crossed for better ringing conditions,but anyway ,we have a BBQ planned for afterwards with a few bottles of Spanish Rioja will slip down nicely too!!!!!!
