Which of these is a better lens for a Canon 350d? Does the APO matter for the sigma--it is $50 more.

The newer Canon 70-300mm IS lens is much better than the old 75-300mm. It focusses to 1.5m and gives a magnification of 0.26x. It depends how important the Macro is with the Sigma.

Another lens to consider in this price range is the Canon EF 90-300mm. Even though the build quality is not that great, optics are somewhat better than the EF 75-300 III.

If you decide to go with the Sigma, go for the APO version, it is definitely worth the extra $50.

If you can afford it, the EF 70-300 IS is substantially better than all the other lenses mentioned on this thread. EF 70-300 IS has been selling for about $500 lately.

The cost of the IS is still almost halfway to the 400mm; I still was wanting to spend in the $135-150 range with the possibility of using an extender (1.4x) until I can afford the $1100 for the L lens.
