EF70-300mm f4-5.6 IS

Has anybody got any experience of this lens and a Kenko x1.4 TC (the ebay model)? I'm thinking of this combination on a 350D but I'm unsure about the autofocus and whether I'd need to tape the pins to get it to work.

You would definitely need to tape the pins. That will enable the combination to attempt to autofocus. It's only likely to be successful under ideal conditions (lots of light and a contrasty subject).
