Blimey!!
I don't think this a focussing error. Never thought the rings would be visible.

you can see saturn every clear night at the moment, with an unaided eye as a high yellowish star in the south west from about 9.30pm onwards , better as it gets darker.

Hi Stuart C,
Thanks for the info, will be looking tonight and tomorrow etc, forecast for clear skies up here is not very good though, is there any chance (assuming clear skies) of seeing ring(s)?
Regards, John

A pair of 8x binoculars will show the planet has "ears" ! I think I'll set my scope and D70 up for one last go before it gets sold :)

Some Saturn facts....
Saturn is 10 times bigger than the Earth and weighs about 95 times what the earth weighs.
Saturn is about ONE BILLION miles from the earth.
Saturn shines by reflecting the light of the sun.
Saturn is cold.....-220f.
Saturn is mostly clouds and is known as one of the gas planets.
There are 7 bands (I think) made up of zillions of bits of rocks.
Saturn's gases are...Hydrogen, Helium, water vapour, Methane, Ammonia, and Nitrogen.
Saturn does not have birds or a Birdforum :'D
