We dropped off an injured bird to the Ottawa-Carleton wild bird care centre this afternoon. We knew it was a type of warbler but he is not in the books that I have and I haven't found a site on the internet with a decent picture yet. We enjoy identifying the birds that visit our various feeders but haven't seen one like this before.

He (I assume) looked just like a canada warbler - black on top, yellow underneath with the black markings on his chest and black running from under his eyes to his neck. But he had what I think was white eye rings and not yellow.

Is he a Canada Warbler? I'd like to learn more about him.

Thanks guys.

Karrie

hey Karrie, here are two options for you - 1st one is the canada, 2nd is the magnolia. What ever it was - I hope it is going to be ok. Lucky that you found it and got it to some help in any case. Take care, dave

Thanks Dave. It wasn't the magnolia so it must have been the Canada Warbler.

Off to read up on him :)
