Just got back (12:10am) from driving around Eastry - Rowling - Northbourne with my brother and Neil looking for Owls and Badgers. Never saw a Badger all night, and had a slow start looking for the Owls. But as we were rolling down a slight hill, we heard Little Owls in a massive tree at the end of someones large garden. We looked in the tree while listening and reckon we saw at least 5 in the 1 tree. Eventually Neil got a little too close and they took off together. Thinking that was it, we headed back home along the straight mile road, where we had failed to see anything at the start of the drive. Dean slammed the anchors on as a Tawny Owl (Lifer 118) flew across the road in front of us. We veiwed it for a few minutes before it moved out of sight above the canopy of the trees. For the first couple of minutes it was calling to another Owl about 50 yards behind us. It rounds off a good couple of weeks for me. Iv seen Little Owls at 3 different locations and now a Tawny. Great stuff. Mick

Saw a Sparrowhawk flying over the back garden today. It was chasing something low and as it got to the hospital roof every Pigeon on there scarpered in all directions. There's also a lot of Swifts turned up too. Never seen them here over the house before. Mick

Nice one Michael. Saw my first Tawny Owl yesterday. Flew across the road, as with yours.

Had a quick drive through the Trees at Northbourne tonight on my way home from fishing. (No fish) Saw 2 Tawny Owls flying along the road under the trees and 1 was perched at the end of the road. My m8 pulled over to sort his lights out on the car and i shone a light in the trees, straight at it about 10 yards away.
Spent the day watching a pair of Reed warblers nest building on Stonar lake, Sandwich, also present were, Great crested grebes, greenfinches, Kestrel, cormorants, moorhens, coots, mallards, herring gulls, Blackbirds, wood pigeons, Swallows, Swifts, and a Cuckoo that i couldnt find. Pity about the Carp, only 1 fish all day on the other bank. Mick
