This picture was taken the same day as the previous pic on this section but using the digiscoping method and in the afternoon sunshine as aposed to rain in the morning visit -

Coolpix 4500 / Leica APO scope / Eagleeye 10X eyepiece

i was able to gain 20 yards distance from the bird and she posed for over 30 mins in this position, i could have got closer !

i just kept walking left or right to get the best angle on the bird

she was so obliging and ignored me totally !

moments like this one you remember well, the detail you see at this distance is incredible ! i also took video footage as well which when i replay the sequence brings the memory back to me so vividly !

It is a very nice picture. I am thinking whether she has the skills to get her food herself. ^_^

The bird was feeding well during the four or five weeks she was there on small mammals and insects, she regualrly had skirmishes with the local Kestrels but that was to be expected, the most recent news i have was that she had moved due to the recent shooting disturbance in the area, but had relocated a good distance away, but that news is about a week old now

Hi Paul,

Can I just ask what you mean by 'the digi-scoping method' ??

From what I have seen there seems to be lots of different equipment and methods out there... the results of your pic are so good, I would certainly be interested in knowing what equipment/mounting/exposure/focussing method you used.

Well Done Paul,

Actually saw this bird several times myself as I live nearby in Aberdeen , but alas did not have a Nikon 4500 to stick on the scope to capture her myself ! I do now though !
