Thank god they're countable... I never go looking for exotics when I'm in Florida but I bumped into them once. I don't see what's wrong with Black-hooded Parakeet though, they're probably more common and increasing. Great, I may have started an arguement!

Brendan got it - the mystery owl is an Elf Owl! Apparently they are active only very rarely during the day - several birders whom I told were very skeptical until I showed them the photos.

Oh those codes just confuse people more - they're useless, except on bands. Someone should start a quiz where you have to ID the codes!
Ok so Elf Owl and *air intake* Black - throated Gray Warbler!

Hey Mr. No Way Jose,
I thought of Elf Owl even before you mentioned it, but it didn't seem quite right and Mr. Neil said active in day, so that put ELOW totally down the drain 8-P

Coul. well be. Poss. BLWA thou.
Seri. guys, ther. are wors. thns. you coul. be doin. than typn. out names. ELOW? Great you saved yourself typing out two more letters! I mean I like writing SSTS, but it almost always requires an explanation of what it is anyway! How many of you know what this is without searching it on the internet or in a list or codes?
featherbrain1223
Saturday 21st July 2007, 21:46
I know what SSTS is, and BLWA, do you mean Blackpoll (BLPW) or Blackburnian (BLBW)? Haha, when I talk to Neil and Tim, they know what I'm talking about with the 4 letter codes 8-P. Let's not start an argument, 4 letter codes have been quite a controversial topic, besides, this is a quiz not a code topic. Haha 8-P
