This picture was taken in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, on July 16, 2003. I won't make any predictions on the difficulty! :king:
Good luck!

At first I thought it was an owl flying towards the photo'er (just look at those big black eyes!), but I'll go with Larry & Spud, Red-bellied Wp flying away.

Red-bellied WP looks OK for the wings, but that tail is way too broad and rounded.
I'm going to go with Grousemore for the Black Vulture. It looks too light, but maybe that's just the print? The tail shape and white patches under wing are good.

I have no knowledge about birds from your part of the world but the image looks like that of a raptor to me. A Vulture or a Sea-eagle perhaps.

Hi guys!
Larry, logos, and Michael are correct. It is a Red-bellied Woodpecker. I was trying to get a picture of it in the tree. But just as I tripped the shutter, the bird dropped straight down and out of sight. I somehow managed to catch it mid-flight. After reviewing the picture, I noticed that the red belly was visible (a rare sight for me).
Good job everybody!
Michael
