View Full Version : Blue-crowned Parakeet in Beckenham

Hi

Does anyone know where Blue-crowned Parakeets (Aratinga acuticaudata) are in the Beckenham area? I read they're breeding there now. So far I've only found one pic on the web which was taken in "a Beckenham park".

I live in Beckenham. The blue crowned are considerably less in number than the ring neck. However your best bet in Kesley Park where they can be heard and seen in the tree tops.

As I am sure you already know the bue crowned have a much deeper more parrot like call than the higher pitched screech of the ring neck.

Hi

Thanks for that. Even though I'm in Brockley, I only went to Kelsey for the first time the other w/end. Plenty of ring-necked that time, but nothing even remotely like blue-crowned.

I'll have to visit again: like to add them to the monks I saw in Mudchute Park.

It is down to luck whether you catch them but I hear a few most evening as they fly over my house to nest either in Hither Green cemetery or Scadbury Park.

Hi Bob,

That is a blue morph Ring-neck, a domestic variety. A beautiful bird and not one I've seen with the many 'wild' parakeets to the west of London!

Yes very locally ,in Chislehurst, my garden is close to the park in Empress Drive and i've had this blue morph on my feeder again today.

Does anyone have Blue-crowned Parakeets visiting their birdtables regularly?
