has anyone a uv filter (protective) in front of the at 80hd scoop in use, and what is the size of the filter ?

I've thought about it, and always use filters to protect my camera lenses, but haven't really tried to find one to fit. I wonder if there actually is one made in that size (I put a 77 up close and it was obviously too small).

My friend Graham Sharpe BF member uses a filter on his ATS 80 perhaps he will see your request and reply.
By the way, the tests with the ATS x20SW eypiece are going well and I am most happy with this purchase. I will post an image later to prove there is no fringing as you kindly warned me about. I have been using Graham's LCE adaptor for these tests now I am satisfied I can go purchase an adaptor....not decided which.

Roy.

As Roy Howell posted, I have a uv filter on my ATS 80 HD scope. I purchased it from Jessops in Lincoln - price was about £45. Size for the ATS 80 HD is 82mm.

I bought an 82 mm filter for my ATS80, but it screws right on the end of the extending hood, so is very exposed and prone to reflections. I had hoped it would fit inside the hood and screw over the lens. Has anyone managed to do this, for example by first removing the hood?
