I understand that July is a good time for Waders returning from the Arctic? Where in Kent is the best right now? Is there any chance of my seeing a Ruff in any remnant of its fine breeding plummage?

Hi,
Oare Marshes is a good place for waders, and there is every chance of seeing Ruff there in the remains of their breeding plumage.
Check out http://www.kentos.org.uk/recentsigntings/recentsightings.htm for the recent sightings there and some other notable sites in Kent.
You want to try to time your visit to a rising/high tide, as this will puch the waders off the Swale mud and onto the reserve.
Also check out this old thread...
