I usually go out two or three times to watch birds. I usually hear 10-15 new bird calls each time I go, as I am still new to the game. WHat are some tips that I might be overlooking to find these birds?

One example is great crested flycatcher. I hear them at one spot I go to, but I can never find them. I can even pin down the tree, but I usually grow tired after 20 minutes of trying to find it.

Another example is wood thrush. There is one in the same spot on my regular walk through the forest, but I am yet to see it!

Thanks

Well, from lots of personal experience with your Flycatcher, I can tell you to always scan the very tops of the trees as they will drop down after an insect. They are very wary of movement so staying as still and unobtrusive as possible will help you as well. Once in awhile, I get lucky and they will actually drop down to the ground after a beetle.
