Hello, now I've got your attention, I want to pick your brains!
I've just bought myself a pair of Opticron Verano 8 x 42 and I'm really pleased with them, but everytime I take them out of the carry case, (or try to put them in again) The objective lens caps (The flimsy rubber type) fall off and I'm worried I'll loose them? I noticed that there is a fine thread inside the end of the lens and I was wondering if I could buy pop-in lens caps, like on my Nikon camera lenses? If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

Jude

P.S. I'm assuming the thread is 42 mm???B (:

hello, me again! I forgot to add, if the fine thread is meant for filters, what type would you use on Binoculars, UV just to protect the lens?????

The fine thread is intended to function as baffles against reflected light and is not designed to accommodate either filters or lens caps. I would recommend trying tethered lens covers from Swaro, Leica or Eagle Optics.

Personally I'd recommend not worrying about the objective lens caps, they really are more hassle than they are worth. While in transit the case will protect your bins and you want to be able to whip them out and use them as quickly as possible. Tethered objective caps can be handy (especially if you do not use the case), but they are not vital.
