I know, maybe that's not an enticing title, but after last week when I thought it would take competitors a loooong time to spot the bird and the answer came in less than an hour, well I don't want to live off false hopes!

You'll see a photograph and "this week's competition feature" . The question is what species? (very easy), and how many birds? (not so easy). It would also be a good idea if you timed yourself, so if you get the correct answer the shortest time would be the winner.

Happy birding!

Species - right! (I said it was easy). Pin-tailed Sandgrouse.
Number, wrong! There are more than 2.
Question is how many?

3 Pin-tailed Sandgrouse!

I love sandgrouse, they look like huge pigeons ;-) What species can you find in Spain/Portugal?

Hi Tim

I agree - sandgrouse are great, one of my favourite birds. Here in Spain we get Pin-tailed and Black-bellied Sandgrouse. Always a treat to see.
There are more than 3 in the photo though!

I can only see 2 birds and it is more of a test of my reading glasses than my observation. Nice quiz though

You're getting closer, but nobody's got it right yet! When someone does I'll clip in the photo with the position of the birds marked.

OK! It's about time to reveal the truth, or at least the truth as I see it. Look at the attachment. There are in fact....5 birds, and as James said, 2 males and 3 females. Congratulations James! How long did it take you to get it right by the way?

Little beggars can look just like rocks!
