Early afternoon today (Sunday 19th Oct), fourteen Redshank feeding on the Links, practically on the pavement just north of the Rendevous cafe. I'm used to seeing Oystercatchers on the Links but I can't recall seeing Redshank before. All against the backdrop of the Bonga on the horizon...

Hi John,
Must admit that's fairly common in the winter (I often do the monthly wader counts there). They've not been there recently because the ground has been so dry, but with the rain this morning, feeding will have improved a bit.
Missed the bonga! dang!

Bonga is a massive ship which left the Tyne after a major refit

The largest ship ever to use the Tyne. Quite a fiddly task getting it in and out of the river.

Hi John and welcome, as Michael points out not an uncommen sight , at St Mary's proper 8 grey partridge are often on the grassy banks near the wetland they seem to have lost all fear of humans.
And welcome to you anouther Northumbrian.
