Fascinating stuff Dave!
I noticed there aren't any Waders on the list.
Is that because they just migrate in one go or something?

Love the photo of the long eared owl too.

Pete.

Thanks Dave, I've always found your reports extremely interesting and the photos are excellent (and unique backdrops).

Great stuff again Dave.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but are you the sole birder on board... and what do all your colleagues reckon to you staring out to sea???

Just the one

8-10-03 1 Knot

I think that was a bird, not the speed of the platform!.

Hi all,
Here are a few more pix of last trips passing migrants. All the pix that I have ever post have taken by various members of the crew not just me, it depends on who may have the camera and more importantly for safety reasons, the paper work and gas detector that is required to use the camera out on the plant.
A lot of the guys are very helpful and will let me know where they have seen birds or pick up corpses for me ( which go into a my freezer and are then sent in to the N.S.B.C. in Aberdeen )

Interesting pics again,Dave, although you haven't told us what they are!
I'll guess,from L to R, Wigeon,Unsure,Lesser Whitethroat,Goldcrest and Chaffinch.
Got a mental block on the second from the left.

You're on a rig and still you get Lesser Whitethroat when I haven't even seen one!!!! The second is a Tree Sparrow? Great pictures and variety of birds!!!

Well spotted Michael, didn't realise there were two birds in the final picture!
I think the light on the Tree Sparrow was confusing me,does look odd.
