Anyone been birding around Malaga in Spain? If anybody has any information on good spots within easy reach of Malaga, particularly the Mijas area I'd be particularly grateful.

Not sure about the 'easy reach' bit, but Rhonnda (check spelling)was good for Rock Buntings,Chough Crag martins etc.. Should be lesser Kestrel too.
At the Sierra Nevada mountains we saw Golden Eagles and hundreds of Griffon Vultures.
I'm not sure about nearer Malaga.
Sorry I couldn't help any more.

Nerja - 30 miles east of Malaga is good for crag martin, black redstart, white wagtail, serin, blackcap, chiffchaff, sardinian warbler (all in and around the town) scoters off shore and black wheatear in hills above nerja caves (take the footpath at the entrance and look across the gorge to the rocks on the other side).
Also audouin's gull between Torrox and Nerja on beach.
Might be worth sending a message to Tchagra, who is very knowledgeble on the area. Just get to one of his postings and p.m. him.
