The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust along with the BBC and others have fitted satellite transmitters to some swans. These are currently on the move. The following website gives maps and further details.

Further information can be found at a BBC website - link within the site above.

Note also the radio programmes scheduled for next week (first week of Nov).

Colin,

I have been watching this site for a few weeks now, it is most interesting. Hopefully the Bewicks will end up at Welney!

John,
I am sure that there is a lot of new data being gathered which will be very valuable for 'professional researchers' but as you say it will be interesting for everyone to follow their progress and see their eventual wintering site. The most likely will be somewhere in Holland, Welney or even Slimbridge. It seems that there are only 2 Bewick's transmitting and the single Whooper. Let's hope the technology holds out until they reach their winter quarters.

Speaking of Slimbridge. Do you/BF intend to have another Slimbridge Bash?.
Lots of things have changed, BF has grown immensely, and its only Nine months or so ago.
When are the Swans expected back?.

Alan,
The first swans arrived on the 18th October. There are currently 2 swans present (as of yesterday - 27th). I have no plans for another Slimbash as yet but perhaps later in the winter after the new year. I am not working there at the moment but I am very busy so I could not be sure of being able to attend a bash.
