Britain's largest seabird is thriving on East Yorkshire's rugged cliffs, with gannets greedy for a nesting spot at Bempton Cliffs. A survey by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has revealed the upward trend and confirms that East Yorkshire is one of the most important sites in the UK for these spectacular seabirds. The count of the nesting gannets at the RSPB's Bempton Cliffs reserve, near Bridlington, revealed a record total of 3,498 nests – a 37 per cent increase since the last survey in 1999.

And a brilliant place to visit as well, with breathtaking views of these magnificent birds as well as many other species. If you have never been then give yourself a treat and visit late spring onwards.

I agree JohnJ, Bempton is a superb site to visit. We went in June and July and got marvellous close up views of the Gannets and of course the Puffins.
We haven't been outside of the breeding season so I can't vouch for what there is to see then, but it's certainly a regular for us in early Summer :bounce:
