I mentioned in a previous thread, that I was working on an idea for a mobile suport,
well here it is the finished product, well not finished exactly I have some finishing touchups to do, like painting.
I wanted to try it out before doing that, just in case I had to make any alterations, as far as I can see there are no problems what so ever, it pans and tilts smoothly, thanks to the old candle wax, there is none of that drop that accurs with tilting, and I have answered my question in the previous thread (are there any vibration free support systems out there) well yes, there is, THIS ONE.
Image one shows it closed down for transporting, while image two set up for use, no camera attached as this point.
There is ample room for a camera bag etc. I will give it some tests in the field with in the next week, weather permitting, also, I just have to butter up to the good lady, to make me a cover.
So whats the verdict... Ernie

I'm impressed.... it seems to do the job indeed. However, why don't you add a seat, a beer cooler, radio, sunshade and a motor ?
Seriously Ernie, it is very nice work. Congrads.

Looks good Ernie, I think it might be a bit cumbersome for the places I mostly go to but ideal for one of them, ie a long walk from the car along a decent path to a place I stay at for quite a while, you could put a chair in there and maybe a primas stove for a brew up, sea watching heaven.

Of course your correct Mick, it would not be suitable for rough terrain, then again at my age neither am I. Wandering of the beaten track here in Australia can be very dangerous, but we have many National parks where suitable walking tracks are available, and as to what you can carry on it, there are many choices. So far, I can get all I need, camera bag, with two cameras that I can attach to the scope, a tripod to hold one of them, and as you say a flask for tea, and the chair.. But it has been fun working it all out, I am wondering what cranky idea I can come up with next. I will give it a good work out in the next couple of weeks when the school holidays finish. Thanks Xyzu for your comments.Ernie

Hi erniehatt my avid golfer father inlaw recently brought a motorized golf bag trundler ;) with a wireless remote so he doesn't even need to push it :king: just thought you might like to investigate the idea ;)

Spot Focus, thanks for the idea, But,as I mentioned on an earlier thread, that I have one of these electric buggies with a remote control, and decided to was way to heavy for the job. Ernie

Hey Ernie.
I love it when people make there own gadgets and it looks perfect for your needs, well done im impressed;)
But they may be one thing you could do, with out to much hard work is the handle, why not have it swing down when not in use, instead of taking it off and finding room for it at the front.
Just an idea mate.

Looks really good Ernie, reminds me of one of those gagets James Bond would use, though I cant see the helicopter blades and the heat seeking missiles; are they only fitted as optional extras?
