Michael Reichmann has got his hands on a pre-production model from Canon and posted his initial thoughts on Luminous Landscape (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/MKIIIs.shtml).

For those of you with $8000 going spare, this looks pretty encouraging ;)

Yeah, I read this a couple of days ago when looking at MR's very enthusiastic 40D review ("...the IQ of the 40D is on a par if not even slightly better than that of the Canon 5D"!!)

Looks very good for potential owners of the 1Ds.
