A week on the Scillies has made me want to review how I carry all my stuff around. Carrying the tripod & scope on my back with the Cley Spy mulepack has certainly helped, and my bins are around my neck as per usual. The problem is the Canon 350d + 100 - 400 zoom lens on a shoulder strap. There were two main problems - keeping the camera on my shoulder and it being unprotected from the weather, knocks and bangs.

So I have been thinking about a case for the camera and lens that will allow quick access and attach to a waist belt. There do seem to be suitable cases and Think Tank & Lowepro both appear to have cases that would fit but it is hard to be certain which would be the best. Any views out there? Or alternative solutions?

Any comments gratefully recieved.

Don't think you'd gp far wrong either way, Nick.

Lowepro kit is far easier to get hold of though - there's only one official source of Think Tank in the UK as far as I know.

Mind you, their kit really is excellent: I use their Rotation360 (http://www.capture-the-moment.co.uk/tp/news/my-rotation360-is-here) and love it - even though I can't carry my 40D with 100-400 attached, it's a brilliant photographic platform (I love being able to attach the camera/lens to the rucksack straps), so for me it'd come down to availability and cost.

That said, eventually I'll have one of these: http://www.thinktankphoto.com/ttp_product_DgtlHlstr.php
