Sick Nikon coolpix 4500, quick repair needed (1 Viewer)

On behalf of another member, does anyone know of a reliable camera doctor in the U.K. to repair a sick zoom mechanism on a cp4500. Obviously returning to Nikon will take more time than the user would want.
As a last resort, what is the lowest price for a Nikon cp4500 that members have seen.
Andy

Thanks Brian... though I'm not sure I'd trust that company myself, heard lots of sob stories from people dealing with them.

Hi Andy,

I tore the front off my CP4500 recently and got in touch with H. Lehmann Ltd
247-249 London Road, Stoke-on -Trent and they carried out a complete repair and service on my camera which is as good as new now and with a guarantee.
Their telephone number is 01782 413611 or WWW.lehmannsdirect.co.uk

Speak to Phil Edwards and he will advise the best procedure and give you an estimate for the repair.

I visited their wokshops and was most impressed with what I saw. They specialise in Nikon, Canon and other brands and carried all the spares needed to repair mine and completed the job in about ten days.

I've dealt with Pixmania and in every way - including delivery and rapid and full responses to email enquiries - they have been superb.

I too had absolutely no problems with Pixmania and they are currently still the lowest price I can find

cheap c/p

andy i got my c/p from srs microsystems they where on ebay i got lucky
if you get on the day they put it up for sale you can bye now with out bidding
if you need the number ill get it for you they are nikon referbs 12 months guarantee so no problems there.

Hopefully the digiscoper (no names ;) with the sick 4500 will get online later and decide the best route for himself.....pixmania are a high volume seller so they will get more complaints than most, but even so they've upset a lot of people.
Surprised i missed SRS, they're my local camera shop and very good too.
Thanks all

Indeed - in fact their price on some stuff puts other suppliers to shame. I've seen items on eBay go for more than Pixmania charge.

I got mine fixed recently at Bromley Camera repair. Noce and quick and seemed to know a lot about Nikon 4500's (although is this a good thing.....................)

Steve,

Do I detect the possibility of a new Off-Topic thread here, about the gullibility of certain eBay buyers? What a thread that'd be! I'm certainly amazed at the price that some things go for there. ;)

Would it happen to be the same one who's off to Extremedura at the weekend? ;)

Incidentally my mate's just sent his 4500 back to Nikon with a stuck zoom.

I couldn't possibly say, it may damage his reputation ;)
I'm alright, I have a back-up camera in the cp990 if things go wrong...I sleep very well at nights because of that.

Just tried convincing my missus that a 4500 (from Pixmania) would be a good purchase as a back-up camera for my much loved 995 - she wasn't having non of it.

Yes - it is off-topic, but I have seen utter stupidity on eBay. I'm looking for a small generator for my son's moth trap. I can go to our local supermarket and find one for £99-00 with a year's warranty. They often go for more on eBay - for the same item.

A PC sketching tablet recently went for £60-00 - the same item (new) is £30-00 in our local store. It's bidding fever.

Pixmania And Coolpix 4500

I would just like to add that Pixmania advertised a bundle on the Net that had the Coolpix 4500, plus extra battery, plus 256mb card, plus card reader for sale at £359. I purchased the bundle and have had no problems. A week later they realised their mistake and the same bundle was up for £395. I saved £36 as they had advertised at the wrong price. I have no complaints with them.
