Thanks Mick, i knew Greece are having big problems with refugees i didn't know that a lot where coming through Lesvos. Very interesting and sad article whichever way you look at it.

Its a major problem for Greece nationally and Lesvos locally. Greece didnt have the resources to cope with the problem before their current economic plight.

The north coast of the island is the favoured arrival point and if you're birding up there then you might come across abandoned dinghies along the shoreline.
 
The owners of the Panorama Hotel in Petra have said this is a big problem for the island,The refugees apparently ditch outboard motors within site of the beach,burst inflatables and break any paddles.Has Steve said if you drive along the track from Molivos to Skala Sykamineas the beach can sometimes be littered with inflatables.
