No thanks!

The 29th June marks the 10th anniversary of of the signing of the Danube convention by its bordering states (Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Serbia-Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Moldova, Romania and the Ukraine). They have planned a series of events on the theme of the “Danube – bridge to the future”.
They will have little to celebrate if the Ukraine carries on with its dredging operations towards the core area of the Biosphere reserve.
Who can stop them? Well the EU for one. The next regular meeting of the EU and the Ukraine government (essentially to discuss further and increased EU-funding in return for harmonization with EU practices) is on 8 July.
Lobby the EU commissioners and MEPs to wave the big stick at the Ukraine at this meeting. Patten and Wallström have already been lobbied by Ukrainian NGOs.

Take advantage of the break in the European Football Championship to swap the TV screen for the computer monitor and do your bit!

A REMINDER FOR TOMORROW 29 JUNE - THE DANUBE DELTA & THE UKRAINE

The response to date has sadly been poor. :C

Please take a couple minutes to support the conservationists in the Ukraine. They are campaigning for OUR migrating birds who use this important wetland as well!
