Seaforth NR (1 Viewer)

I knew about this yesterday but kept a lid on it. Steve White was inundated with calls from journalists yesterday when news of it broke when Peel Holdings released news of their masterplan for the area

More about the Masterplan

There is a public consultation process that Peel Ports are starting. It is all arranged very quickly so unless the major conservation/enviroment bodies act upon it quickly it seems there is very little time to orchestrate detailed and cogent argument against the plans.

They new the s**t would hit the fan so are probably trying to rush things through quickly catch people on the hop,its good to see the RSPB getting quoted in the Post article, they are useless in some ways but quite a handy ally to have in something like this..Lancs trust need to get their act together and quickly ..

It's outrageous that Peel Ports are trying to steamroller through their plan for Seaforth NNR . They probably see the nature reserve as a millstone around their neck that doesn't generate any money . The questionaire that you can fill in regarding the proposals is produced in such a way that if you disagree with any of the questions you will be looked upon as " hindering progress " . I suggest if anyone does fill it in that they disagree with all the proposals .

As you can see by Tim Melling's quote in the article the RSPB is clearly against this development and another one a bit further along the river.

Colg do you have a link to the questionaire thanks Andy

Hi Andy,

The link below takes you to the blurb on the Peel site about the proposals & the consultation. There is a link on that page to the consultation / comments form but if you look at it you can see how the questions have been phrased in such a way that you could find yourself supporting the proposals!

There is also an email address for you to send comments to and that's what I intend to use as you can express your opposition much better in your own words than by filling in the dubious consultation form.

Have a look & see what you think
