bird happy
Hi Greek specialists,
I'm popping into Athens for just a few days for work reasons and am trying to do a little research on where I can see some birds on my one extra day.
I'm a little tight on funds right now, so no tour or renting a car for me, so just trying to figure out where I can go on public transportation with so little time.
I was interested in Schinias Park and found a little villa to stay near the park, but they emailed me, very honestly: "We haven't yet had any significant rain this autumn so the Schinias wetlands are still very dry and bird life is limited."
Would you say even so it's worth going, esp since I don't anticipate being back to Greece anytime soon? If not, where else would you recommend I can go for something low-key and accessible by public transport / foot?
If you do recommend going, how do you recommend I approach the park if I have no car? I hear that there are buses that go to the entrance of the park, but I imagine it's huge on foot...so any advice is welcome.
Thanks,
S.
