The new Kowa TSN-VA1 low-mag-eyepiece/digi-adapter (1 Viewer)

Recently (in the USA in May 2004) Kowa introduced a low magnification eyepiece [8x in the 77, 66 and 60 mm scopes and 8.7 in the 82mm scopes] with a very long eye-relief [57mm]. The eyepiece comes with an adapter for digital and video cameras. The combo attaches to the scope in the same way that Kowa's digital adapter and Kowa's SLR adapter attaches: by using the metal thread at the base of the eyepiece slot in the scope.

This eyepiece allows one to digiscope with a Kowa scope and a high zoom camera. This is not possible for high zoom cameras with the eyepieces normally used for birding. In another thread I show some examples obtained with an old Kowa TSN-2, the TSN-VA1 eyepiece and an Oly C-750 digital camera:
