Lampertheim Altrhein (1 Viewer)

I had a trip to Germany for work earlier this week, and managed to spend an hour walking around the Altrhein reserve at Lampertheim over lunch, and then had half an hour on one of the platforms at sunset (well, I assume the sun was setting behind the thick grey cloud cover).

The woods were very full of birdlife, although unfortunately I didn't manage to find (and confirm) any of the less common species of woodpecker, which was my main aim. However, the following were seen:

Great-spotted woodpecker - 10-12
Blue tit - 5
Great tit - 2
Bullfinch - 1 female
Chaffinch - 1
Redwing - 18-20
Nuthatch - 6-8
Goldcrest - 1
Marsh tit - 2
Long-tailed tit - 4
Robin - 1
Blackbird - 4-5
Common buzzard - 2 (one perched, one circling above the forest)

I may have had a middle-spotted woodpecker among the GS, but only briefly, and not confirmed.

On the water were a lot wildfowl, including:
Canada goose - 25-30
Greylag - 1
Teal - 20-25
Mallard - 4
Coot - 2
Grey heron - 3

And there were also a lot of hybrid and escaped goose species, including:
Bar-headed goose - 3
Swan goose (domestic type) - 3
Bar-headed x ??? - 2
Greylag x canada(?) - 1
