Thrift Store Find 804r without the R (1 Viewer)

Hi guys,
I read here frequently, have little to add to all the experienced, expert comments. Great stuff!
I did find a Swift 804 at St. Vincent dePaul. Multi Coated, "wide field" inside the white triangle, blue stripe at the oculars with blue ball in the tripod hole. Leather case in great shape. Original Swift nylon strap in great shape. Missing the diopter eyepiece, not the lens. There is a problem inside the right side ocular. Looks like some separation. I first thought maybe the coating was swiped off but the problem is somewhere under the outside surface.
Should I send it to Swift for a possible warranty repair or to Nicholas up front?
Or, should I send it to Swift first and follow up with Nicholas?
Thanks!

I seriously doubt Swift would have the parts. I think they contract their service work out anyway. Nicholas is the obvious choice in my view.

Just call Nicolas and tell him your tale of woe. He will tell you straight whether or not he can repair it.

From his website: "Please contact Nicolas Crista at 781-294-2039 before shipping your instrument"
