Hi guys, Im just looking for a bit of info, I will be visiting Northumberland at the end of may and will be visiting the farnes for a couple of days but I am just wondering if there is a chance of long-tailed ducks being around then? I have heard they can still be found at stag rocks?
Any help would be much appreciated

I think you will need a lorra lorra luck as Cilla might say, normally they have all departed by end April. There are occasional May records off Northumberland but they aren't annual and rarely more than 2-3 sightings in any given year.

They do sometimes hang on until late May in the Firth of Forth, especially Musselburgh or Gosford Bay on the Lothian side or Largo Bay on the Fife side.

Regards

David

Just a note - long tailed duck (at least one if not two) still at Cresswell as of 31st April. You never know how much longer but may be worth checking as the month goes on.
