We are visiting Capetown in late September and looking for a good days birding - or at least half day.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced good bird guide please?

Hi, just seen this as I have just joined the forum. Your post was April, but you only need a guide in Sept, so hopefully this is helpful.
Brian Vanderwalt is a great guide. His contact details are listed on his website which is http://brians-birding.co.za/

Thanks Merlin. Could you give us an idea of cost as his website doesn't mention this. Where did you go with him?

An excellent birding guide is Dave de Beer, Hermanus. He is also an expert on whales. And he is a hell of a nice person, you won't go wrong with him. Dave: Cell 082 897 7175 - davedebeer AT maxitec.co.za
